Career Plan~Physical Therapist
Major~ Exercise Science B.S
I am a current student at IUI pursuing a degree in Exercise Science on a pre-med track for Physical Therapy. Throughout my academic journey at IUI, I have developed a strong foundation of my passion to help and serve others. In the near future I plan to to seek further education at the University of Indianapolis, where I aim to earn my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. I am committed to making a positive impact in lives of those recovering from injuries and striving to improve their overall health and well-being. This path aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and personal values, and I look forward to contributing to the field of Physical Therapy

Reflection
My interest in this career was not a spontaneous decision. My experiences from childhood up to high school gave me reasons to pursue Physical Therapy. My childhood was spent on a farm. I helped feed and care for the animals. I rescued strays and spent most of my time outside. I loved it and it definitely built my character.

My interest in health and exercise showed through with my participation in sports like soccer and track. I sacrificed a lot of my time to sports but I made friends. I became captain of my soccer team and it helped build my confidence. I would also go to the gym during the off season and I focused heavily on my nutrition and building my body.

I did well in school. I graduated 7th in my class. However, I excelled and loved my biomedical class and anatomy class. My teacher saw my interest and he brought up the idea of pursuing physical therapy as a career.

What nailed my decision was my time peer tutoring. I helped ELL students who spoke Mandarin, French, or Spanish. When I first met them they were reserved, shy and unmotivated students. They were overlooked by their teachers and peers. But we kept going at it and slowly they opened up. The most fulfilling feeling was when one of the students came up to me and showed me their grade on a test. From C,D, F students to A, B students gave me a sense of purpose. I knew from then I on I wanted to help people. I wanted to see the progress in someone. Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation will give me that sense of fulfillment I seek and I wish to be a part of someone's journey of growth and recovery.
